New to Measuring? Here’s What You Need to Do
If this is your horse or pony’s first-ever measure, you must pre-register through RAS Head Office before attending a measuring stand.
Steps for First-Time Measures:
Complete the Pre-Registration Form:
Email the completed form to RAS Head Office.
Do not take it directly to the measuring stand.Wait to receive your Horse/Pony ID Form and Height Certificate via courier.
Pay your measuring fee online (includes Tracked Courier Post). Only one courier fee is needed if you're registering multiple horses.
Once documents arrive, sign the certificate and bring both the certificate and pre-registration form to the measuring stand.
Book a measuring time only after receiving all your documents—if the stand takes bookings.
At the stand:
Microchip or markings will be checked
Height will be recorded on your certificate
Pre-registration form will be retained
You keep the signed certificate
Other Important Notes:
Life Certificates: Require special forms (in triplicate) from your local stand. Notify the stand in advance if requesting a Life Measure.
Measuring is conducted using RAS-approved Metcalf Measuring Machines.
